Our Mission

The mission of Clothing can make a Difference is to provide women sufferers of domestic violence a means to feel good about themselves again. Clothing can become a tool to help rebuild self esteem and allow these women to take a small step in getting their lives back on track.

We collect good quality pre-loved and new suits and work-wear that women can wear to a job interview, court hearing or even when visiting Centrelink.

Founded in 2005, clothing can make a Difference is a not-for-profit association that has collected thousands of items for distribution to women in refuge centres around inner-Sydney.

We hope that this will inspire women in other cities to start a collection. Feel free to contact us if you would like to enquire about how you can get started with your own collection.

Next Collection - April 2008

Our final public collection will be held in April 2008. Since our inception in 2005 we have donated close to 20,000 items to women's refuge centres including suits, workwear, shoes and accessories. But unfortunately the collection, in its current form, has outgrown our capacity.

However we are in the exciting process of forming alliances with key fashion houses and other organisations that will not only provide more regular deliveries of new clothing for these women but also job and interview skills, presentation advice and legal aid. We are looking forward to bringing you more information as it comes to hand and advice on where future donations can be delivered.

We would again like to extend our gracious thanks to all our supporters, both past and present and look forward to meeting you again in April.
