The Collection

collection For each collection we ask that women donate good quality pre-loved suits and work-wear that has been dry-cleaned or washed and pressed.

What we look for:

  • Trouser/Skirt suits
  • Shirts
  • Skirt and Jacket separates
  • Pants
  • Tops
  • Casual-wear suitable for an informal work environment
  • Shoes
  • Handbags

We welcome all sizes, colours and styles. Clothes can be dropped off in person in bags, boxes or simply in your arms. We also accept courier drop offs.

All clothes are then collected and distributed by the Dolores Refuge and The Salvation Army to women’s refuge centres around Sydney.

Clothing that we feel is not suitable for our collection will be donated to The Salvation Army’s general clothing stores.

April 2007 Collection

Close to 4500 items including suits, casual-wear, shoes, handbags and accessories were able to be passed on to the five refuge centres we now work with in inner-Sydney. They were truly overwhelmed by the high quality of clothing and items donated.

Having recently visited the shelters and seen how little some of these women have when they leave their terrifying situations, we now have a better understanding of what your donations mean to these women. Here is an excerpt from one of the thank-you letters:

‘You will be happy to know that one of the women has been preparing for a job interview (as a waitress) this past week and found a great pair of black pants and lovely white top! She was relieved and very encouraged to go ahead with the interview - so thanks!’

It is not every day that we can experience the spirit of generosity, but we hope that with your donation comes a lifetime of generous spirit delivered back to you!
